Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op. 3 No. 2 (1892), from the Morceaux de fantaisie collection, is one of his most famous solo piano works, composed when he was just 19. Its ominous tolling chords, restless middle section, and thunderous climax made it an immediate sensation, though Rachmaninoff himself reportedly grew tired of having to perform it at every recital.
