Charles Gounod (based on J.S. Bach's Prelude in C Major, BWV 846)
Charles Gounod composed this famous 'Ave Maria' (1853) by overlaying a lyrical melody upon J.S. Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C Major from The Well-Tempered Clavier, creating one of the most recognizable sacred pieces in Western music. This cello arrangement preserves the rich, solemn quality of Gounod's vocal original.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Swan Lake, Op. 20 (1876) is a landmark ballet by Tchaikovsky, whose lyrical themes—particularly the famous Odette's theme—have become some of the most recognized melodies in classical music. This arrangement for cello and piano highlights the expressive depth of Tchaikovsky's melodic writing.

Gabriel Fauré
"Après un rêve" (After a Dream) is one of Gabriel Fauré's most beloved songs, composed around 1878 as part of the Trois mélodies, Op. 7, with a text based on an anonymous Tuscan poem translated by Romain Bussine. Its yearning melodic line and impressionistic harmonies have made it a favorite transcription for cello and piano, capturing the tender nostalgia of a fleeting dream.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
The "Dance of the Reed Pipes" (Trepak variant / Mirlitons) from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a (1892), features three flutes in a delicate and charming pastoral dance. Part of the iconic ballet suite premiered in Saint Petersburg, it remains one of Tchaikovsky's most recognizable orchestral miniatures.
Johann Sebastian Bach
Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007 (c. 1720) is one of the most performed and recognizable works for solo cello, opening with its iconic Prélude. Arranged here for flute, it showcases Bach's mastery of unaccompanied melodic writing that transcends the original instrument.
Carlos Gardel
"Por Una Cabeza" (1935) is one of the most celebrated Argentine tangos, composed by Carlos Gardel with lyrics by Alfredo Le Pera. It gained worldwide renewed fame through its use in films such as 'Scent of a Woman' (1992) and 'True Lies' (1994), cementing its status as an iconic tango piece.
Edward Elgar
Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (1919) is one of the most celebrated works in the cello repertoire, notable for its introspective and autumnal quality that marked a departure from his earlier triumphant style. Premiered in London in 1919, the concerto gained widespread fame largely through Jacqueline du Pré's iconic 1965 recording.
Maurice Ravel
The Menuet is the fifth movement of Maurice Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin (1917), a suite originally written for solo piano and later orchestrated in 1919. The title translates roughly as "A Tribute to Couperin," honoring the French Baroque composer François Couperin while also mourning friends Ravel lost in World War I. The Menuet is one of the two movements Ravel chose not to orchestrate (along with the Fugue), leaving it as a purely pianistic piece. It features a graceful, archaic dance character in keeping with the Baroque menuet tradition, but filtered through Ravel's signature impressionist palette — delicate ornamentation, modal harmonies, and a poignant middle section (Musette) that evokes a rustic, pastoral mood before returning to the elegant opening theme.
